Spin Cycle 05/21-23/08

Tito, please get me a tissue.....Janet, Ms Jackson if you're nasty.....Wardrobe Malfunction....ah, the list is endless, and yes, I used my Jackson Family playlist for my classes last week.
The classes needless to say, were fast and furious! I also subbed on Sunday the 25th, but didn't use that playlist, but the class was pretty fast as well.
The Jackson playlist can be found here: Michael Jackson used to be good.....
One note about the classes. In each class, there was at least 1 person who did whatever she wanted, throughout the whole class, and did not follow my ride whatsoever. No big deal, as I do stress to "make it your own ride"....however, it is a bit distracting when we are all seated, riding a hill and the person is up in 3rd....or when we are doing jumps, and the person is up in 3rd climbing a hill. Annoying.
Anyways, I'm off to teach 1 of 3 classes for the week.
Ciao!

Spin Cycle - the last 2 weeks

Man, what a slacker I am. Last week, I traveled to St Louis on Friday, right after I taught, so I didn't have time to post. I have been pretty busy this week, so I haven't been able to sit down until now to post.
Last week's ride was set to a playlist that I called "Dig". The message was dig in and get the drive to get fired up and ride like mad.
Here it is:
1. Dig - Incubus
2. Dig In - Lenny Kravitz
3. Drive In, Drive Out - Dave Matthews Band
4. Drive Like Lightning (Crash Like Thunder) - The Brian Setzer Orchestra
5. Burn This Disco Out - Michael Jackson
6. Wind It Up - moe.
7. Firestarter - Prodigy
8. Westerly - Strangefolk
9. Workin' Day and Night - Michael Jackson
10. Always on the Run - Lenny Kravitz
11. Ready to Run - Dixie Chicks
12. Saturday's Alright (for Fighting) - The Who
13. Winning - Santana
14. Love on the Run - Galactic

This week's music is a great mix of old and new music, including 2 songs sung by David Cook. Yes, David Cook from American Idol. He is frigging great, and I hope he wins it all......
The class itself has been killer - it's all hills. Starting off with a couple 1:30 hills, moving into a couple 3:00 hills, then a couple 4:00 hills, a couple 5:00 hills, finishing up with a couple 2:00 hills into 1:00 of speed. Between each hill is a 1 minute recovery. After really riding it 2x in 11hrs, my hams are cooked. I may change up the ride for tomorrow, but use the same music.
Here it is:
1. Pocket full of Sunshine - Natasha Bedingfield
2. You Know I'm No Good - Amy Winehouse
3. Mercy - Duffy
4. Lady Marmalade - Labelle
5. American Boy - Estelle (featuring Kanye West)
6. I'm Alive - David Cook
7. Candy Shop - Madonna
8. Give It Up or Turn It Loose - James Brown
9. Miles Away - Madonna
10. Flashlight - Parliament
11. Missing - Everything But the Girl
12. Life - Sly and the Family Stone
13. Word Up! - Cameo
14. Little Sparrow - David Cook

Till next time!

Spin Cycle 04/30-05/02/08

Good classes this week. The weather was still cool enough (and wet enough) that people haven't totally migrated to outside workouts.
I did a favorite "every other" ride, where every other song equates to some type of hill.
Lots of hoots and hollers from the crowd during the ride. I love that. It gives me reinforcement that at least some people like the ride, and it also gives me some more energy to keep kicking their asses.
Heres the music:
1. A Girl Like You - Edwin Collins (remember this one...one hit wonder?)
2. Run (I'm A Natural Disaster) - Gnarls Barkley (new album, The Odd Couple, is GREAT)!
3. Love Song - Sarah Bareilles
4. See You Again - Miley Cyrus
5. Old Enough - The Raconteurs (new album, Consolers of the Lonely, is ALSO GREAT)!
6. Mama's Pearl - The Jackson 5
7. My Sacrafice - Creed
8. 4 Minutes - Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland (new album, Hard Candy, IS ALSO GREAT)!
9. In Love With A Girl - Gavin DeGraw
10. Shake It - Metro Station
11. Violet Hill - Coldplay - New song!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pretty mellow. I'm surprised, all the reviews I've read of their pending release says the new album is an excursion from their past 3 albums....this sounds pretty much coldplayish...
12. Toxic - Britney Spears
13. Surprise - Gnarls Barkley
14. Machine Gun - The Commodores
15. Apologize - Timbaland, OneRepublic

On the playlist, but didn't really get to was I Will Possess Your Heart, by Death Cab For Cutie. This song is 8 minutes long and totally jams. I am impressed. I haven't been too turned on by their music but this song has peaked my interest....
I have now turned my motto into TOO MUCH MUSIC, TOO LITTLE TIME!!!!!!!!!
Oh, what do I listen to next?
