Reboot. Recharge.

When all else fails, just shut it down for 5 seconds and turn it back on. Just like new!

I realized on Tuesday, as I pulled into the parking lot at work, and saw the hunter green mustang with the tan convertable top, that I LOATHE, and I mean LOATHE, the person I report to.
He drives that stupid mustang, probably to make himself feel more manly, since he's such a pussy. He feels the need to make others feel like shit, again, probably to make himself feel better.
It sucks having to report to him.
He makes snide comments about me in meetings, hoardes basic work that should be delegated to me, watches the clock, walks by my cube for whatever reason (but we all know its to check up on me)....basically he's a douche.
Today when I pulled into the parking lot at work and did not see that hunter green mustang with the tan convertable top, I knew it was going to be a great day.

Happy new year!

Spin Cycle 12/28/06

Happy year's end. For my last spin class of 2006, I used an eclectic mix of tunes, which ranged all over the map. No rhyme or reason here, just picked songs I like...well, most of them I like...a couple I put on as requests by students, including one song by the Proclaimers. Not a huge fan of them, but hey, what can you do...it's 3 and a half minutes of your life....
Enjoy, and happy New Year.

1. On the Road - String Cheese Incident
2. It Don't Mean a Thing (If it Ain't got that Swing) - Ella Fitzgerald
3. On Broadway - George Benson
4. Sweet Little Girl - The Proclaimers

Spin Cycle 12/14/06

Hi.
My ride this morning was built on music either released in 2006, or made popular in 2006. Crap you say? Well, maybe some of it, but certainly not all of it.
What I left off of it was the music of the Dixie Chicks, Takinn' the Long Way, which I think is one of the best albums of 2006. I will be using it in another ride soon.....
The songs are generally pop songs, mainstream, lots of radio play etc.
Enjoy!
1. Suddenly I see – KT Tunstall
2. King Without a Crown – Matisyahu
3. Say it Right – Nelly Furtado
4. I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’ – Scissor Sisters
5. Bad Day – Daniel Powter
6. Fergalicious – Fergie
7. Crazy – Gnarls Barkley
8. Temperature – Sean Paul
9. My Love – Justin Timberlake
10. A Public Affair – Jessica Simpson
11. Waiting on the World to Change – John Mayer
12. Ain’t no Other Man – Christina Aquilera
13. Here it Goes Again – OK Go
14. Level – The Raconteurs
15. Check on It – Beyonce
16. Move Along – All American Rejects

Can someone please give me a courtesy flush? Please?!?

A moral dilemma

I was talking to a colleague this morning, and was stunned when he described to me what he called "his situation", or the real reason he is retiring.
He told me that his wife had been sick with MS and it had gotten to the point that he couldn't take care of her anymore. He said that in August, he had a 40th High School reunion, and had run into a lady friend that he used to know. In the same breath he said he then decided to put his wife into a nursing home. He sold his home, and bought one close to his recently found long lost friend, which is approximately 3 hrs from here and has been living in a hotel since then, and will do so until his retirement.
What do you say?
I tried to keep my not so poker like face without any expression and nodded at him repeatedly. Meanwhile, I'm thinking to myself, this guys poor wife in the nursing home.
He finds a long lost "friend" and ditches his wife.
Ok, I probably shouldn't pass judgement because I really have no clue what the state of his wife is/was when he put her in the nursing home. However, he is moving 3 hours away from where she is in the nursing home to continue his life with another woman.
It's really kind of mind boggling to me.
What would you have said to him?

I hate when people in the car in front of me, swerve to avoid imperfections in the road.
sure, potholes are one thing, but bumps, cracks, small puddles, come on!?!?
What are those "hazards" going to do to the car (which, btw, usually is some shitbox....we're not talking mercedes benz people, we're talking shitboxes like the Aspire, which costs approximately 12.99 to manufacture)....

I also strongly dislike clueless wonders that fail to speed up when driving onto a major route or highway. HELLO, 35 ain't gonna cut it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and there's an 18 wheeler approaching!!!!!!!!

Lastly, I don't know why people have more than 1 kid. Sure, I have 2 myself, but I strongly believe that 1 is enough, 2 is asking for trouble (you got it), 3 is ridiculous, and 4 is just stupid....anyone having more than 4 falls into another category all together.
SEW 'EM UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fire Drill!?!?!?!?

So, today, at least where I live, it's frigging freezing out; the wind chill must make it feel like -10 outside.
So, it's bad enough to have a fire drill at 12:20 during lunch.
But to have it on a frigid day is CRUEL, and UNFAIR.

Oh, so, I reached my goal weight this week (the goal that Weight Watchers set for me, not my own personal goal), and have lost 12.6 lbs......I still feel the need to loose a few more pounds to give myself some room to gain back, if that should happen. It's hard to not get obsessed.
The people that surround me tell me I'm crazy.
My dad said to me "You look like Bolemia". I was like, is that a place dad?
F'em all.
I feel good, and will continue to loose if I feel its necessary.
Right now, with my life running so smoothly (please note the sarcasm), my eating and my weight is offering me the only thing I really can control.

When I get home from work, I'm going to pour myself a double.

Spin Cycle 12/07/06

Today's music brought to you by all the songs you wished your parents turned off the radio, or if you are younger, you wish they would turn them off now......I loved today's music, and was worried that the songs would go over some of the younger student's heads, but it was well received. Some of the older women really connected with it. One girl came up to me and said am I old if I recognized all of the songs, to which I said of course! No, I said, not to worry.

Here it goes:
1. How Long - Ace
2. Drift Away - Dobie Gray
3. Free Ride - Edgar Winter
4. Funk No. 49 - James Gang
5. Fooled Around and Fell in Love - Elvin Bishop
6. Feelin' Alright - Grand Funk Railroad
7. Do You Know What I Mean - Lee Michaels
8. I Just Want to Celebrate - Rare Earth
9. Movin' Out (Anthony's Song) - Billy Joel
10. One Way or Another - Blondie
11. Lido Shuffle - Boz Scaggs
12. 25 or 6 to 4 - Chicago
13. Don't go Breaking My Heart - Elton John, with Kiki Dee
14. Bold As Love - Hendrix
15. Freeway Jam - Jeff Beck

A good portion of the music I lifted from the soundtrack from the movie Invincible, a football movie with Marky Mark. I did not actually see the movie, so I cannot comment......at a minimum, the soundtrack to the movie is great!
