They weren't smoking in the boys room

I need to share what happened to me yesterday.

I had a meeting for work at another facility and I needed to get gas. So, I knew there was a full serve station on my way and planned to stop there.

I pull into the gas station, which is also an auto shop. There appears to be no one around. There are no other cars at the pumps, but there is a van with it's hood up and a Jeep off to the side.
There are no people around - no mechanics, no gas dudes, no one.

So, I wait about a minute, looking around and wondering where the hell my gas pumper is then I decided to get out of the car and go in the office part of the station. I notice that there is a bathroom door, 1/2 open, with an out of order sign on it.
I pull open the door and was about to say "hello" when I hear a woman moaning and breathing heavy, who is clearly getting laid.

I was totally stunned, and thought about walking into the bathroom, where Mr gas "pumper" was probably getting in on, but my balls weren't that big, and I so I closed the door to the gas station office, 1/2 laughing, 1/2 still shocked, closed my gas tank and drove off.

Yo.
I wanted to send November out with a bang, and bang we did. We jumped, we jived, we wailed. It was awesome.
I'm talking about swing, baby, swing...the class loved it. It was fast paced, high energy and lots of fun. I used the music of the Brian Setzer Orchestra and man, I tell you, they are going on my list of "need to see" when they tour again. I downloaded a live album of theirs and it sounds amazing. The musicality of the orchestra is wonderful. I also used Squirell Nut Zippers and music of a complialtion called Swing Sucks.

Here is the breakdown:
1. Hawaii Five-O - BSO
2. Drive like Lightning (Crash like Thunder) - BSO
3. Hell - SNZ
4. Jump, Jive an' Wail - BSO
5. Bad Businessman - SNZ
6. Stray Cat Strut - BSO
7. Gettin' In the Mood - BSO
8. Rumpus Room Honeymoon - Steve Lucky and the Rhumba
9. Got My Own Thing Now - SNZ
10. Gene & Eddie - BSO
11. Candyman - Christina Aguilera
12. Pennsylvania 6-5000 - BSO
13. Memphis Exorcism - SNZ
14. All But Broken - Acme Swing Co
15. Flight of the Passing Fancy - SNZ

To lose or not to lose, that is the question

Damn, what a change a week makes - I'm down 2.6 bringing the GRAND total to -11.8!
I keep picturing the wicked witch screeching "I'm MELTING" and melting into nothing.....

How much more am I going to lose you ask?
Well, I don't know. I have a particular weight in mind to get to, just don't know if it's too much. The loss in weight has been significant for my small frame. It's great.
:) no Spin Cycle this week....but I'm working on a great ride for next Thursday. I've got the music picked out, and I just need to arrange it.

I'm getting my freshly slaughtered turkey today, which I'm going to roast up for the weekend with some cornbread stuffing, butternut squash and double baked sweet potatoes....yum.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Happy Birthday to my little Louie Lou!!!!
She is truly a devil, and it's looking like she is going to be 1000 X more of a firecracker than I am.... Picture from this summer when we went to Storyland/Clark's Trading Post....

Spin Cycle 11/16/06

This morning, I had music picked out, and decided to switch at the very last minute. I had created a ride that would fit with a continuous beat, so the switch did not matter for the ride.
It did matter for me, however, because I was feeling a bit schleppy, and needed that little extra something to get myself going.
I switched to what I feel is perfect for Spinning: Body and Soul Volume 3. It is a mix of acid jazz, trip hop, house, gospel, disco, you get the idea. I have 4 Body and Soul Volumes, and 3 is my most favorite. My students love it as well.
I gave a super class - it was a "add-on" class, where after a warm-up, I started a 15 minute pattern with 5 moves, building on after each minute interval. So, the first set was 1 minute, second was 2, third was 3 etc. I repeated it twice at one minute intervals, then did one with 30 seconds, and climbed hills (2 minutes) in between. Awesome!
Here's the setlist for Body + Soul Vol 3:

1. Closer I Get - Maria St James
2. Never Forget (When You Touch Me) - Hardrive 2000
3. Philly's Groove - DJ Romain + Danny Krivit
4. Soul Talkin' - Deep Bros
5. Equitorial - Dubtribe Sound System
6. Tribute - Soul Ascendents
7. Jaguar - The Aztec Mystic
8. Groove La Chord - Aril Brika
9. Organ Nights - Scott Grooves
10. I Shall Not Be Moved - Underground Ministries
11. Watch Them Come - Men from the Nile
12. Casa Forte - Snowboy

Go get 'em girls

This Friday marks the US wide release of Shut Up and Sing, the documentary of the last 3 years of the Dixie Chicks lives, since Natalie Maine's public Anti-Bush statement.
The film was released at the Toronto Film Festival in October, and opened in a couple of Markets last week.

I have always been a fan of the Chicks and look forward to checking out the film. I recently took in the VH1 special Storytellers with the Chicks and gained even more respect for them.

You go girls!

the scale don't lie

UGG!!!!!!!!!!!! I gained a pound!!!!! The losing streak is over.
Gotta get back on the train so to speak.
I'm actually not surprised (visions of my birthday cake, and the unbelievable bottle of Niebaum-Copolla 1995 Rubicon fill my eyes)...plus, there are other forces working against me this week (cough, pms, cough)...

I'm sure that next week, I'll be back with a loss.

Spin Cycle 11/09/06

Blue Man Group!!!!!!!!!! !That's right. Blue Man Group. I used the music of the Blue Man Group for class this morning, and it was KILLER. My students were champs this morning, as the class was pretty hard. The music went over well.

Mainly instrumental, with driving beats and faster pace, it was easy to latch on to the music and get pumped up. There were only a couple songs with vocals. One of their albums, The Complex, the Blue Men collaborated with different artists including Dave Matthews, Tracy Bonham and Gavin Rossdale, as well as some other folk. They covered Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" with Tracy Bonham and that is worth getting the album for alone. They do a god awful cover of Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" (you'll see it wasn't part of the ride).

Another album I picked music from is called Audio. I actually picked this up when I went to see the Blue Man Group a bunch of years ago, and I used it for spinning back when I made my playlists on cassette tapes (remember those days)??? A couple of the songs I used came off an EP called Last Train to Transcentral. I think it has 4 songs on it (maybe more)....
Anyways, here's the playlist, all songs by Blue Man Group - I'll indicate the album the song comes from......enjoy!

1) Endless Column - Audio
2) TV song - Audio
3) Opening Mandlebrot - Audio
4) Synaesthetic - Audi0
5) Last Train to Transcentral - Last Train to Transcentral
6) Rods and Cones - Audio
7) Mandelgroove - Audio
8) Drumbone - Audio
9) I Feel Love - The Complex
10) Wands - Last Train to Transcentral
11) Time to Start - The Complex
12) Your Attention - The Complex
13) Piano Smasher - The Complex
14) What is Rock - The Complex

Spin Cycle 11/02/06

Great to be back after having to miss last week due to my trip to the left coast. I taught to a packed room, with 29 riders. Not bad for a Thursday at 6am. My average number of riders is 20, so it's nice to see the scales tipping a bit. I usually see an increase at this time of year, with the peak coming after new years....you know....those resolutions.

I really loved my playlist today. It was heavy on Justin Timberlake, from his new album, which happens to be excellent. He set the album up to have a song, with an interlude or a prelude into the next song. Much more mature, musically then his first release, (which I happened to like as well). Mixed in with the JT are a couple oldies, but goodies, as well as some down home funk from a band called Breakestra that I have been grooving to recently.
Enjoy.

1. FutureSex/LoveSounds - JT
2. Cars - Gary Newman
3. Love Stoned/I Think She Knows Interlude - JT
4. What Goes Around..../....Comes Around Interlude - JT
5. Bette Davis Eyes - Kim Carnes
6. Sexy Ladies/Let Me Talk To You Prelude - JT
7. My Love - JT
8. Hiding - Breakestra
9. Damn Girl - JT
10. The Gettin' To It - Breakestra

Losing streak

That's right - another 1.2 lbs down the drain bringing the grand total to -8.8.
Feeling good. Few more to go before I'm back to my "young self".....

On another note, we got 4, maybe 6 kids for Halloween last night. How lame is that? I live on a street that is tucked away, but the street that is perpendicular to mine has a bunch of kids that live on it. I am surprised that we didn't have more.
Max was a banana, and Louise was a devil - both quite fitting costumes, since Max is bananas and Louise is a little firecracker. Max was totally fired up, being 4 and all. Louise had no clue what was going on at first, but quickly caught on, and did not want to stop trick-or-treating (she'll be 2 next month). I'll post some pics later.

And leave it to good old John Kerry.....What an utter embarASSment "Please open mouth and insert foot". Enough said.
